Northwestern State University offers the only online program for certification as a school librarian. The program, approved by the Louisiana Department of Education, consists of 18 hours.
This innovative program addresses new AASL/NCATE standards, incorporates nationally defined competencies, and prepares school librarians for the variety of roles they now must fill.
A course rotation schedule allows students to complete certification requirements in a calendar year. Two courses are offered each term.
